For children aged 8 to 10 1/2

There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout. You will get a chance to try lots of different activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting. If you do them properly you will get a badge which you can wear on your uniform.

Cub Scouts also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. Sometimes you will be able to go camping with the rest of your Pack. This will mean you sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities.

The Cub Scout Promise is:

I promise that I will do my best
To do my
duty to God and to the Queen,
To help other
people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law

Cub Scout 2006/2007 District report

The year started well with the scout and cub camp at Woodlands Activity Centre.

St George’s Parade was held at Baggeridge.

The Slot car final, held in May, was won by Christopher Dixon of 1st Pennfields.

In June we held District Cub Camp at Rhydd Covert this was attended by about 50 boys doing different outdoor activities.

In July we held the Athletes Badge which most boys passed.

Some cubs attended the 90 years of Cubs celebration at Dudley Zoo all had a good time.

In September the boys went to Drayton Manor Park for the day very tiring but well worth going.

The Five a side was won by 3rd Wombourne, they also won the Swimming Gala.

2nd Wombourne won the relay.

In November we held a Connect 4 Competition.

December was the Carol Service.

January saw the start of a big year of celebrations with the Launch Party held at St Edmunds School.  The leaders also went Ten Pin Bowling as a fun evening.

Many leaders attended the Founders Day Service at Darlington Street Methodist Church. It was a chance to meet old friends from other districts.

March ended the year with the cubs going Ten Pin Bowling in their groups ready for the top 6 to go forward to the final in April.  We also had a fun Quiz night and Woodlands Activity Camp at Aldridge.

Thank you to all the leaders, helpers and friends who have made it such a good year for the Cubs.

Most groups seem to have increased in numbers and all the boys and girls seem to benefit from your commitment.

Thank You

Barbara Welsh
